Brenda Blanco is a bilingual counselor. She was born in California but raised in Colorado. Brenda is a first-generation Latina who takes pride in her Mexican roots. She earned two bachelor's degrees, one in Sociology and the other in Criminal Justice, from the University of Colorado. Later, she completed her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University. Brenda is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through Colorado's Department of Regulatory Agencies.
Brenda was a probation officer for the Colorado Judicial Branch before becoming a counselor. She worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and that's how she discovered her passion for counseling. Brenda has been counseling clients for the last four years, specializing in working with victims of crimes, depression, anxiety, immigration, and other issues. She believes counseling is effective when the counselor-client relationship is strong and there is trust, collaboration, safety, nonjudgment, comfort, and grace for clients.
Brenda loves spending time with family, reading, cooking, baking, doing crafts, and being outdoors. She believes in staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the mental health field, which enables her to assist her clients better and provide them with the best counseling and resources.
Brenda is an advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. She believes everyone deserves to be seen, heard, understood, and valued. To Brenda, every individual matters, every individual has a role to play, and every individual makes a difference. She welcomes clients from all walks of life and feels privileged to be part of someone's counseling journey.
Brenda's approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that everyone has their own unique story and journey. With empathy and unconditional positive regard, she encourages and supports her clients to take charge of their therapeutic journey. Brenda prioritizes building a healthy therapeutic relationship with her clients and trusts in their potential to find personalized solutions within themselves. She draws from a range of therapeutic approaches, including Multicultural, Strength-Based, Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic, Integrative, Solution-Focused, Dialectical Behavior, and Motivational Interviewing, to help facilitate positive change.
